AJ Thomas Joins CoFounder.AI as Chief Operating Officer

Most small business owners are building alone. They don't have a cofounder to argue with at midnight, an operator who has scaled a team before, or a board that picks up the phone. That gap is why CoFounder.AI exists. And it's why I'm so glad to share that AJ Thomas has joined CoFounder.AI as our Chief Operating Officer.
AJ and I first worked together at Google X, Alphabet's moonshot factory. She was Global Head of Talent & People Products there, and I was an Executive Entrepreneur in Residence.
Since then, AJ has spent her career on the other side of the founder relationship: investing in founders, coaching them and building the teams around them. Now she's helping build the technology that puts that same support in the hands of every entrepreneur.
Talent is everywhere. Support isn't.
AJ has sat in nearly every seat at the table. She's been an operator, an investor and a leadership coach, and she says the pattern looks the same from all of them:
"Talent is evenly distributed, but support is not. CoFounder.AI gives every entrepreneur the kind of leverage that used to be reserved for founders with the right network. My job is to make sure humanity and technology get equal weight as we build it, so that support reaches the entrepreneurs and small business owners who are the heartbeat of our economy." — AJ Thomas
That's the whole thesis of Software as a Partner. A founder shouldn't need the right zip code or the right alumni network to get a partner who leads, proposes the next move and does the work.
What AJ will own
As COO, AJ leads partnerships and oversees finance, legal and HR. She brings more than 15 years across venture, talent and company building, organized around the three levers she built Troublemaker Ventures on:
- Capital. As General Partner of Good Trouble Ventures, she invests in category-creating founders who challenge the status quo.
- Culture. As Managing Partner of The Troublemaker Lab, she coaches founders and enterprise teams on growth strategy, financial and operational rigor, and cultures that hold up under pressure. That includes adopting AI in ways that sharpen teams instead of replacing them.
- Community. She connects founders, investors, operators and technologists across AI, emerging tech and venture capital, and widens access to the rooms where innovation gets shaped.
All three show up in how we'll grow. Our partners will bring CoFounder.AI to founders who'd never find us through an ad. Our operations have to hold up as the company scales. And we have to keep the human side of this as seriously as the AI side.
First up: the Good Trouble Ventures portfolio
AJ's first partnership is with the fund she knows best. Good Trouble Ventures is our founding portfolio partner. The fund is sponsoring each of its portfolio companies on CoFounder.AI Max, our highest tier, for twelve months.
That gives every founder in the portfolio an AI cofounder and a team of AI specialists from day one, for fundraising readiness, diligence and day-to-day operations. Each founder gets a personal link and signs up without a credit card. Their year starts the day they activate, so nobody loses months by joining later.
"Capital alone doesn't build a company — execution does. Putting CoFounder.AI in every founder's hands means our support doesn't stop when the meeting ends." — Kat Steinmetz, Co-Founder and General Partner, Good Trouble Ventures
Each company's workspace stays private to that company. Good Trouble doesn't see a founder's conversations, plans or work unless the founder chooses to share them. Founders are candid with a partner they trust, and that candor is what makes a cofounder useful.
If you run a fund, accelerator or incubator and want the same for your portfolio, reach out to AJ on LinkedIn.
